Journaling was Recommended

Unfolding life, one post at a time.

Strong Day

Enjoying my last strong day before beginning a new treatment tomorrow. I spent the day doing something simple…reading and relaxing.

I finished The Wilder Way by Eva Zu Beck, a memoir about a woman who chooses to live life on her own terms, traveling the world and building an unconventional life as a travel journalist. Her story reminded me that I’m looking forward to releasing my own “wilder” side once cancer treatment is finally behind me. There is still so much of the world I want to see and so much life I want to experience.

Sadly, I also learned that an old high school classmate passed away this week of cancer. That news hit me differently, especially right now. It’s a reminder that all of our days are numbered. Some of us may simply have a little more awareness of that reality than others.

So, I’ll remain optimistic. I’ll keep pushing forward, and I’ll keep trying to enjoy the moments I’m given because, really, that’s all any of us have…the moment we’re in.

New treatment infusions begin tomorrow. I’ll probably be back here updating more frequently again. Writing through all of this has become a kind of mental therapy for me.

For today, though, I’m just enjoying the strength.
